"Kanin has done a total turnaround. Before camp he wasn't listening and had troubles in school. Now he is very compassionate, telling me every half hour he loves me, he gets along with his sister better and he's getting A's in school. He loves playing with Legos and has done a re-enactment of camp. There was nothing tht he didn't like escept leaving on Sunday...Yes I would definitely suggtest camp to other people; in fact I have already done so." Taya- parent of a 2014 camper

"I love this camp so much. It helped me through my tough time after I lost my dad. I really enjoyed helping someone who hurt just like me and I was able to help them through it. I enjoyed it so much and I tell everyone they should join because it’s such a great experience."

“I would tell someone that this camp deserves a chance. It changes lives and brings out the best in people. You get to watch the campers learn and grow in such little time. It’s a beautiful experience.”

Comment from a volunteer

“I came as a camper and then because I wanted to give the same thing my teen buddy gave me I became a teen buddy. To someone that was coming to this camp I would tell them that it is a great experience and a lot of fun.”

“It was an amazing learning experience. I learned that it’s okay to talk about what happened. Join. It’s worth it.”  Camper from 2014 camp who is returning in 2015 as a Teen budddy.

"If you're thinking about volunteering for Camp Live, Laugh, Love I have two words for you: Do it! I have been volunteering at camp for four years and each year I am surprised again and again at the way these kids hold themselves together. If I were them, I would have fallen apart, but they are amazing, and they teach me to be thankful for what and who I have in my life. I plan on going back every year I can because this camp is by far the best thing I do all summer."

Jessica Hellenberg, teen buddy 2013

"Being a teen buddy was Soooo much fun! I had a great experience- from our awesome directors to the amazing kids. The activities were a lot of fun and I learned a lot from my camper and can't wait to come back next year. To future volunteers I would encourage you to go to camp and have just as an amazing time as I did. Believe me you won't be able to wait until next year's camp! It was awesome!"

"I came into camp not knowing what to expect. My initial hope was to help whatever camper I got in every way possible. At the end of the weekend I was amazed at the fact that I was the one who was permanently impacted by such an amzaing person. Anyone who is considering volunteering for Camp Live, Laugh, Love will not regret it. I can tell anyone, from experience, that it is a weekend that you will treasure for the rest of your days."

Robin Rooyakker, teen buddy, 2013 Camp

"She had FUN- something lacking since her dad died. She was more open in talking about his passing. It was comforting for her to know she is not alone in grieving. This camp has "tentacles" which teach the entire family. Everyone benefits from this camp. Camp was recommended by a number of trusted sources- church, school and funeral home. With so many positive references camp seems reasuring at a difficult time."

grandparent of camper, 2013

"Both of my boys felt more comfortable talking about their brother, in general and with me.  My Anthony draws pictures of his brother and writes stories now. They loved the physical activities and the crafts. The teen buddies made them feel special, welcome and accepted. Thank you."
